Chapter 5
This place was pitch black after dark. I could even hear the howls of coyotes or wolves coming from some distant mountain.
It was absolutely terrifying!
“What, you’ve got Stockholm Syndrome now?”
Chloe leaned casually against the doorframe, watching me with amusement.
“What… what syndrome?”
I shook my head, trembling uncontrollably. “It’s raining hard, it’s too dark, and I can’t find my way. And I think there are wolves…”
“How interesting. Aren’t you like a lamb to the slaughter right now?”
A mocking smile played on her lips.
I shook my head, saying nothing.
Even if Chloe was a wolf, she was better than being eaten alive by those wild ones outside.
Besides, I had a feeling she wasn’t as bad as she seemed?
“Heh.”
Chloe chuckled, continuing to size me up.
“Do you know what a wolf means?”
“Huh?”
I was a bit confused. A wolf is just a wolf, right?
Chloe slowly unhooked her tank top strap with her slender fingers, squinting at me.
“Did your parents ever tell you that boys need to protect themselves when they’re out?”
I looked at her exposed, sexy collarbone and pale shoulder, feeling instantly dizzy, and a warm rush surged into my nose.
I was having a nosebleed!
“You…”
She sighed, rubbing her forehead, re-hooking her strap, then pulled out a pack of tissues and pressed them to my nose.
“You can’t even handle that? How old are you, little brother?” Chloe asked, her voice exasperated.
I held my nose for a while before the bleeding stopped, then quietly answered, “I, I just turned eighteen.”
“Eighteen?”
Chloe burst out laughing. “I’m ten years older than you, but you should still call me 'sister.'”
Ten years older, so yeah, 'auntie' probably wasn't appropriate.
Besides, this woman looked really pretty, not like the other women I saw on the street.
“So, want to share a bed with sister tonight?”
My body jolted, and I felt that warm rush in my nose again.
“C-can I sleep on the sofa?”
Chloe rolled her eyes at me, tossing me the pack of tissues.
“Just messing with you. Look how scared you are.”
“First thing tomorrow morning, you get out of my sight.”
I scratched my head and said, “Oh.”
Chloe seemed a bit unhappy. Women’s emotions really are unpredictable.
