reverse love

Chapter 4

3,654 words

When I finally recovered, I saw Chloe walking into the room carrying a plate of food.

The aroma was incredible – my favorite comfort foods: Sticky BBQ ribs and sweet chili chicken wings!

How could the food be this good in this godforsaken place?

I stared, my mouth watering.

She glanced at me. “What, you want some?”

I nodded like crazy, my stomach rumbling.

Yes, I wanted some! So badly!

“Then just keep wanting.”

Chloe looked at me provocatively, then picked up a rib and bit into it.

That tender meat, that sauce!

My tears of hunger ran down my chin.

“Your mom owes me four million dollars. And you still want to eat?”

“Yes.”

I swallowed hard, answering cautiously.

“Screw you!”

Chloe was so annoyed she pointed a fork at me. “Don’t think just because you’re handsome and you look at me with those puppy-dog eyes, I’ll go soft. That doesn’t work on me!”

She said I was handsome, ha-ha-ha!

“What are you giggling about?”

Chloe frowned at me, her expression like she was looking at an idiot.

I didn’t dare say another word, standing quietly by her side.

This woman was too ruthless, with astonishing strength. I couldn’t beat her.

I vaguely heard someone say she’d been trained in self-defense from a young age…

After a couple of bites, Chloe frowned and muttered, “Just looking at you makes me lose my appetite.”

Then, she tossed her fork aside, picked up her phone, and walked out.

Women are so strange; their moods change in an instant.

The food smelled so delicious; how could anyone lose their appetite?

Chloe was on the phone, but suddenly turned back and glanced at me, making me so startled I dropped the chicken bone I was holding.

Luckily, she quickly turned away again, as if she hadn’t noticed me.

Looking at the tempting food in the bowl, my hunger completely replaced my rationality.

Who cares!

Better to die full than starve to death!

I devoured it, I devoured it fast!

When Chloe returned, all that was left was untouched rice, a table full of bones, and me sucking my fingers.

She twirled her small knife, staring at me coldly.

“Uh, what if I told you I didn’t eat it? Would you believe me?” I chuckled nervously, backing away a few steps.

“Not you?”

Chloe’s face darkened as she advanced on me, step by step. I closed my eyes in fear.

Something soft covered my mouth, carrying a fresh scent.

I opened my eyes to see a tissue!

“Can’t even wipe your mouth after sneaking food. You’re such an idiot.”

Chloe sat down in a chair, lit a cigarette, and looked at me through the smoke.

So embarrassing!

Could the floor just swallow me whole?

“Alright, let’s talk. What about the money your mom owes me?”

“You should ask her for it.”

“Ask her for what? She’s already fled the country.” Chloe took a deep drag from her cigarette, then coughed repeatedly, choking.

I wanted to laugh, but I didn’t dare.

“Then, how about you wait until I’m older, and I’ll pay you back?” I tentatively suggested.

Chloe eyed me up and down, frowning. “A four-hundred-dollar male escort is better than you. How are *you* going to pay me back?”

“I…”

I was instantly indignant, feeling insulted, but as soon as I met her gaze, my anger fizzled out.

“If you’re useless, then get lost. You’re an eyesore!”

Chloe dropped the words and walked out without looking back.

This woman is so weird; she kidnapped me, and now she finds me annoying. No wonder people say women are so hard to figure out.

If I could leave, of course I would!

Anywhere was better than being stuck with this terrifying woman who always carried a knife.

So I ran out, not caring where I was going.

Less than half an hour later, I scurried back.
