Chapter 3

Ethan’s face instantly darkened.

His grip on my arm tightened. “Claire, what nonsense are you talking about?”

The moment he finished speaking, Lily jumped out of the window.

Ethan’s expression changed, and he ran outside in a panic.

He was so anxious that his left foot caught on his right, and he crashed heavily to the ground.

Yet he seemed not to feel any pain at all. He only cared about lifting Lily from the ground.

“Lily, don’t worry. I’ll never let anything happen to you!”

Lily smiled and held up the baby-bottle pendant in front of Ethan.

“Ethan gave it to me. The baby picked it back up.”

After saying that, her hand dropped, and she fainted.

Looking at the blood staining the ground, Ethan raised his eyes to me, his gaze filled with hatred.

“Claire, if anything happens to Lily, I’ll never forgive you!”

I hadn’t expected Lily to actually jump out of the window.

My heart tightened.

But the bullet comments before my eyes were full of mockery.

【It’s only the first floor. Could she really die from jumping?】

【Girl, don’t soften up! Lily did it on purpose to make you feel guilty!】

Lily had always said I was too softhearted.

“People will take advantage of you because you’re like this!”

But now, she had become the person who manipulated my soft heart and bullied me again and again.

When I bitterly rushed to the hospital, Lily was already fine.

She leaned pitifully against Ethan’s chest.

“The baby made Ethan sad. I’m sorry.”

Ethan lovingly tucked her loose hair behind her ear.

“As long as you and the baby are safe, I won’t be sad.”

The moment he finished speaking, he noticed me standing to one side.

He hurriedly stood up. “Claire, listen to me.”

I didn’t move. I only looked at him indifferently.

“That day was an accident.”

“But the baby is innocent. Once Lily gives birth, I’ll marry you immediately.”

“You can understand that, right?”

The bullet comments were filled with disgust.

【Stop disgusting our girl!】

【Why should she understand the things you did wrong?】

I let out a cold laugh.

I was just about to speak when Lily walked over.

She grabbed the hem of my clothes. “Big Sister, the baby is marrying Ethan tomorrow. Are you coming?”

Her voice was sweet and coquettish, but her eyes were full of provocation.

Ethan hurriedly added, “Lily only saw a wedding dress in a video and thought it looked pretty. She just wants to be a bride once.”

“Don’t worry. It’s only an act. You’re the only person I truly want to marry.”

I sneered. “I’m not going.”

The moment I finished speaking, Lily began crying in grievance.

“Big Sister really does hate the baby.”

Ethan immediately coaxed her softly. “Don’t worry, Lily. No one in this world will hate you.”

When he turned back to me, the last trace of guilt in his eyes had completely disappeared.

“You have to come to my wedding with Lily tomorrow.”

“Otherwise, people might think Lily is the other woman, and she’ll be upset again.”

The bullet comments were all defending me.

【You care so much about whether Lily will be upset, but don’t care whether our girl is hurt?】

I shook my head with a quiet laugh. “I can’t go. I’m getting married tomorrow.”

Ethan clearly didn’t believe me.

He looked at me as if I were being unreasonable.

“Lily has endured people’s contempt for you for all these years. Why can’t you sacrifice this one time?”

“You have to come tomorrow! As for our wedding, I’ll make it up to you later!”

Looking at his righteous expression, I found him ridiculous.

But when I remembered how firmly he believed Lily had suffered for me, I suddenly wanted to give him a special wedding gift.

I smiled and nodded. “Fine. I’ll come tomorrow.”
