Just as I expected, Mom didn't go to Scarlett's place.

But her not going didn't mean trouble wouldn't come knocking.

Scarlett had been waiting for Mom to come clean up her mess all morning, but she waited and waited, and no one showed up.

She stormed into our house, burst through the door, and started sobbing the moment she saw Mom. "Mom, you have to help me! David wants to divorce me now and won't take responsibility for my debts. If this continues, I'll die!"

Yes, you will die if you don't pay your debts. Are you just realizing that now?

In my previous life, you dumped all these debts on me. Did you ever consider if I would die?

After all, she was still the precious daughter Mom had cherished for so many years. Seeing Scarlett like this, Mom's heart softened a bit. "I do want to help you, but how much more do you need? Your father and I don't have $300,000."

Mom must not have understood that day, thinking Scarlett only needed to cover the remaining $300,000 in debt.

Scarlett stammered, "Mom, it's not $300,000. With interest, it's $1.3 million now!"

Mom's face turned red with agitation. "What?! $1.3 million? You borrowed this much money behind our backs?"

Scarlett looked at Mom, agitated, and dared not speak, just cried.

At this point, Dad finally spoke up to defuse the situation. "Scarlett, this amount is too large. Let your mother and me think of a way. You go home today, and try to stabilize David. After all, he has such a big company running, there must still be some money coming in."

Seeing that the shock to Mom and Dad was indeed too great today, Scarlett wiped away her tears and went home.
