Five Years Back, a Different Groom
Chapter 1
Three days before my wedding.
My fiancé suddenly called me and said he had come from five years in the future.
“Our wedding has to be postponed!”
“Otherwise, three days from now, you’ll become depressed and kill yourself at the wedding after everyone finds out you’re a fake heiress.”
My heart trembled.
Before I could say anything, bullet comments suddenly flashed before my eyes.
【Girl, don’t believe him!】
【The time travel and the fake-heiress story are both lies he made up for his pregnant best friend, Lily!】
The voice on the phone kept urging me.
Without showing any emotion, I tore up every invitation.
He didn’t know that I was the one who had traveled back from five years in the future.
This time, I had already chosen a different groom.
Less than ten minutes after the call ended, Ethan arrived in front of me, breathing heavily.
“I know this sounds unbelievable, but I would never lie to you.”
The bullet comments went wild before my eyes.
【Don’t believe him!】
【He only made up this lie to postpone the wedding for Lily’s birthday party three days from now!】
I expressionlessly took two steps back.
“Whether I’m my parents’ biological daughter or not, don’t you think I would know?”
“You’re only postponing the wedding because of Lily’s birthday!”
Once his clumsy lie was exposed, panic filled Ethan’s face.
“You… already know?”
But soon, he relaxed.
“Lily only developed Baby Syndrome because she was trying to save you.”
“I believe you can understand that.”
The bullet comments appeared before my eyes again.
【What Baby Syndrome? It’s all just an excuse!】
【Lily only had a few scratches back then. She never had any aftereffects!】
I wouldn’t learn the truth until five years later.
A wave of sadness rose in my chest.
I was just about to speak when Lily came running over.
A tiny baby bottle hung from her chest and bounced with every step.
I remembered it.
Ethan had custom-made it for Lily.
To get that pendant, he had even abandoned me at the beach.
The wind was freezing that night as I limped home alone. Even now, my hands and feet still felt cold whenever I thought about it.
“Ethan, the baby’s leg hurts so much. Why didn’t you wait for me?”
Ethan was heartbroken and hurriedly helped her sit down.
He carefully massaged her calf. “Does it feel better now?”
Every bullet comment before my eyes was filled with disgust.
【If her foot hurts, why did she run over here?】
【Is she afraid our girl won’t know she’s with Ethan, so she came here to show off?】
Seeing the crystal shoes on Lily’s feet, which were obviously the wrong size, I couldn’t help sneering inwardly.
She had always been like this in my previous life.
Sometimes her leg hurt and needed massaging.
Other times her chest hurt and she needed him to press against her.
Back then, I tolerated everything because I thought she had become this way for my sake.
But now, I picked up a shoe from the floor and threw it at her.
“I’ve never seen a three-hundred-month-old baby before.”
“If you’re not crippled, stand up yourself!”
Lily froze for a moment, then quickly covered her face and began sobbing softly.
“The baby hurts. Big Sister is scary!”
Ethan immediately shoved me away and glared at me furiously.
“Claire, what the hell is wrong with you? Lily is already timid. How could she stand being scared like that?”
I lost my balance and fell to the floor.
The skin on my arm was scraped open, and thin lines of blood seeped out.
A trace of guilt flashed through Ethan’s eyes.
He was just about to help me up when Lily leaned over my arm and began rubbing it vigorously.
“It’s all the baby’s fault. Big Sister hates me because I did something wrong. Let the baby blow on it for you.”
The pain made me instinctively raise my hand.
Lily immediately fell weakly to the floor.
Ethan hurriedly helped her up and gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Then he looked at me with a dark expression.
“Claire, can you stop making a scene?”
“If it weren’t for you, why would Lily only have the intelligence of a six-year-old?”
The bullet comments were all indignant on my behalf.
【She’s pregnant and still has the mind of a six-year-old?】
【She’s just using your guilt and your girl’s guilt to get into your bed and control you!】
My entire body stiffened.
In my previous life, Ethan had always insisted that he and Lily were completely innocent.
But this was what his version of “innocent” looked like.
A wave of nausea churned in my stomach.
I bent over and began dry-heaving.
Panic flashed through Ethan’s eyes. He was just about to help me up when I gritted my teeth and knocked his hand away.
“Ethan, Lily doesn’t have Baby Syndrome at all!”
“Our wedding… is canceled!”
