Chapter 4
The ward fell into deathly silence.
Vivian froze in place, a trace of panic flashing through her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by contempt.
“Ethan, what kind of hard-to-get game are you playing now?”
“Breaking off the engagement? Can you bear to do that?”
“Everyone in New York high society knows that you, Ethan Hale, love me so much that you don’t even want your dignity.”
“Now you’re using the engagement to threaten me? Do you think I’ll believe you?”
Julian quickly spoke too, timidly saying,
“Ethan, don’t be angry with Vivian.”
“I know you’re mad because of me, so at worst… at worst, I’ll never see Vivian again.”
As he spoke, his eyes reddened again, as if he had suffered some huge injustice.
Vivian immediately stood in front of him in distress and glared at me.
“Ethan, look at what you’ve become.”
“Julian thinks of you in everything, but you make things difficult for him at every turn.”
“I’m telling you, if you don’t unfreeze the cards and apologize to Julian today, then I won’t marry you.”
I coldly watched this man and woman perform, and not a single ripple stirred in my heart. There was only disgust.
“Nurse.”
I looked at the nurse who had just pushed the door open and come in.
“These two are disturbing my rest, so please ask them to leave.”
“Also, notify security that from now on, without my permission, these two are not allowed to step into my ward.”
The nurse looked at me, then at Vivian’s livid face, and politely issued the order to leave.
“You two, the patient needs quiet rest, so please leave.”
Vivian’s face completely lost its composure. She pointed at me, her finger trembling slightly.
“Fine. Ethan, don’t regret this.”
“When you come crying to beg me, I’ll see how you clean up this mess.”
After saying that, she dragged Julian with her and slammed the door in a rage as she left.
The ward finally quieted down. I took out my phone and called my assistant, Josh.
“Josh, help me prepare a press conference, and set it for tomorrow afternoon.”
“Also, bring me the recording pen from my safe.”
There were some surprises saved in there. Since we were going to tear things apart, then we might as well tear them apart completely.
