Chapter 3

As I was leaving with my suitcase, I ran into Lily, who had returned.

"Leaving? You'd better never come back," she sneered. "You old hag, squatting in my man's house. I don't know how you had the nerve to stay here for so long."

I tried to walk past with my suitcase, but she blocked my way.

"Move," I said.

She didn't budge. "That suitcase is a limited edition Louis Vuitton. Leave it here."

She stood with her arms crossed, looking ready to hit me if I didn't comply.

"These are my personal belongings," I said.

I tried to leave, but she grabbed me. I shook her off forcefully:

"Don't touch me, you filthy thing!"

Lily dramatically fell to the ground. "Why did you push me? Waaah..."

"Emma! What are you doing?" Jack yelled.

Lily cried as Jack helped her up.

"Jack, I just wanted your ex to stay. But she called me filthy and told me to get lost."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jack's hand struck my face.

"Who do you think you are? How dare you call her filthy!

How clean are you yourself? You hypocritical bitch!"

The slap made my head spin and my ears ring.

"And sis, about that suitcase, I've been trying to buy one but couldn't. So I thought..."

Jack understood her implication.

He took out a wad of cash from his wallet and threw it at me. "Leave the suitcase. Now get out."

Lily cried pitifully next to Jack, looking utterly wronged to anyone watching.

I crouched down to pick up the money and put it in my pocket.

"The suitcase costs $2,600. Transfer me another $2,000 and we're even."

Lily stomped her feet in anger beside Jack.

Jack clenched his jaw. "Fine! I'll transfer it now. Then get out of my sight immediately!"
