Chapter 4

When I woke up, I found myself in a hospital bed.

The pain in my body confirmed that everything that had just happened was real.

The thought of everything my daughter had endured made my eyes burn, hot with tears.

But I knew I couldn’t collapse.

I had to get justice for my daughter!

I struggled to climb out of bed, clutching the evidence in my hand, ready to call the police.

But before I could even leave the room, Chloe blocked the doorway with several men.

“Sister-in-law, where are you going? You’re not still trying to report me, are you?”

Seeing Chloe’s nose in the air, I said coldly, “Get out of my way!”

Chloe scoffed. The bodyguards behind her immediately grabbed me and threw me back onto the bed.

I couldn’t fight them off and could only scream,

“Let me go! Let me go!”

“Sister-in-law, how about I show you something?”

Chloe pulled out a tablet. On the screen was the surveillance footage from my house.

My daughter’s room, her sanctuary, had been turned into the black dog’s new kennel.

All of Sarah’s belongings were piled in the yard and set ablaze.

Watching my daughter’s last remaining possessions in the world being destroyed, I ignored my injuries and struggled wildly on the bed:

“Bitch! Who allowed you to do this?!”

Chloe pouted, her face a picture of innocence.

“Why, Liam, of course! This little black dog is a stray I just found today, but seeing as it ate that bastard’s ashes, Liam agreed to let it use Sarah’s room as its kennel.”

She leaned close to my ear and whispered,

“Sister-in-law, you’re very angry, aren’t you? You’re right, I intentionally caused Sarah’s death, but so what? Your daughter is dead, but your husband only protects me.”

She stood up and looked down at me. “You’re nothing but an aging woman clinging to Liam, losing your looks. Liam even said the pleasure I give him in bed is far more intense than anything you ever could.”

I stared in shock, never imagining they had been secretly having an affair behind my back for so long.

I shouted, “Everything Liam has today, I gave him. What do you think he’d be without me?! I’m warning you, let me go right now!”

Chloe sneered. “You still think you can threaten me now? I’ve already dealt with your daughter. Once I deal with you, I’ll be Mrs. Gu Corporation.”

Her face twisted in malice. “Tell me, what do you think Liam will say if he sees you being intimate with a group of strangers?”

Hearing Chloe’s words, my face twisted in horror:

“What exactly do you want to do?!”
