"Audrey, my darling daughter, how could you have gotten into a car accident? You scared your mom to death, boohoohoo…"

Before I could fully register what was happening, I was enveloped in a warm embrace.

It was my mother, Susan.

Usually so poised and composed, her hair was disheveled, and her eyes were filled with worry.

Immediately after, my father, David, rushed to the bedside.
