THE DEVIL KNOWS MY NAME

"Say my name again, Kysa... and I'll remind you exactly who you are underneath the suit."

I was once Kysa, a name I wore like armor four nights a week to pay tuition and rent while nobody was looking.

Donomie Lawson was the client who never wanted just a night. He wanted all of me: my name, my secrets, the parts of myself I kept locked away even from me. I gave them to him. Then I disappeared and became someone he could never find.

I built a new woman from the wreckage: Darla Perkins, associate attorney, clean of that old life, accountable to no one.
