He Disarmed Every Bomb Except Our Marriage

My husband, Nathan Cross, was the city’s top bomb squad commander.

He had defused countless explosives and saved hundreds of lives. Yet, he never once thought to fix our crumbling marriage.

The day I asked for a divorce was our fifth wedding anniversary.

At nine in the morning, I sat by the TV, watching the live broadcast as he calmly snipped a detonator wire.

At ten-fifty, the crisis was averted. The camera caught Nathan with his arm wrapped around his assistant, Sierra Vance, giving an interview. His eyes were softer than I had ever seen them.
